Hanson Group attends AIAA SciTech

Researchers presented four aerospace-related papers at the annual American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Science and Technology conference

Three papers were presented by Hanson Group researchers at the annual American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Science and Technology (AIAA SciTech) conference in Orlando, Florida. The first of these papers focused on high-speed atmospheric flight, examining important oxygen and nitric oxide-related chemistry for hypersonic flight on Earth. The latter two papers demonstrated a novel UV laser-based sensor and described infrared laser-based measurements relating to measurements of the cyano-radical, a chemical species of relevance during atmospheric entry onto Titan, Saturn's largest moon. An additional invited lecture discussed recent efforts deploying infrared laser sensors in high-enthalpy ground-test facilities, again to study the physics of high-speed flight on Earth. Congratulations to all four Hanson Group attendees: (from the left) PhD candidates Devin Merrell and Efaine Chang and research scientists Dr. Jesse Streicher and Dr. Christopher Strand!
