Why is advanced energy technology important?
As engineers continue to push the limits of advanced energy technologies, such as those used for power generation and mechanical work output, there is a need to better quantify the system dynamics. Improved understanding of these advanced technologies will enable higher efficiencies, reduced emissions, and greater performance. In the Hanson Research Group, we work closely with a range of industry and government collaborators to leverage our expertise in optical diagnostics to instrument and measure conditions inside the energy systems they are developing. Our findings allow engine designers and modelers to better understand the internal processes, refine predictive models, and improve performance.
